What is Spike?

Spike turns your ordinary email into something that feels like a chat app — and folds team communication right into your inbox. Instead of stiff, formal email threads, you get conversational messages, channels, tasks, calls and collaborative docs in one place. It's built on the idea that we switch apps roughly 1,200 times a day, and most of that is avoidable.

Email, reimagined as conversation

Spike's signature move is "conversational email": your messages appear as clean, chat-style threads on your side, while still going out as normal email to everyone else. The recipient doesn't need Spike — they just get a regular email — but you get a far less cluttered, more human way to read and reply. It's often described as "Slack inside your email."

Who it's for

Spike suits individual professionals who want to upgrade an existing Gmail or Outlook account, and teams looking to unify their communication. Founders, consultants, freelancers, project managers, sales, support, remote teams, agencies and HR all use it to cut down on app-switching and keep conversations in one flow.

What it brings together

  • Conversational, chat-style email that stays standard email externally
  • A unified inbox across multiple email accounts
  • Channels, groups and a shared team inbox
  • Video and audio calling
  • Collaborative docs and note-taking
  • Tasks, calendar and agenda view
  • AI: smart inbox sorting, email summaries and draft assistance
  • Templates, scheduling, snooze, undo send and built-in translation

Less app-switching, more doing

The core benefit is focus. By pulling email, chat, calls, tasks and docs into a single workspace, Spike removes the constant jumping between an inbox, Slack, a docs app and a task manager. For people whose day is fragmented across a dozen tabs, collapsing that into one place is a real productivity win — and one fewer set of notifications to chase.

Where AI helps

Spike's AI is practical rather than gimmicky: it sorts your inbox by priority, generates summaries of long emails so you grasp them at a glance, and helps draft and brainstorm replies. For anyone drowning in email, having the important messages surfaced and long threads condensed is exactly the kind of quiet time-saver that adds up over a week.

Collaboration that doesn't need everyone on board

A clever part of Spike is that its collaboration works even with people who don't use it. Because your conversational threads still go out as ordinary email, you can bring teammates into channels and shared inboxes internally while communicating with clients and outsiders over standard email — no one has to install anything. Shared inboxes let a team handle support or sales addresses together, and collaborative docs keep notes and plans right next to the conversations they came from.

Two ways to use it

Spike works either as an email app that upgrades your existing accounts, or as "Teamspace," where you create business email on custom domains with team collaboration built in. It runs everywhere — iOS, Android, Windows, Mac and web — and secures messages with AES-256 encryption, so your communication stays consistent and protected across every device.

Why choose Spike

For individuals and teams tired of bouncing between an inbox and a pile of separate apps, Spike offers a genuinely different approach: email that feels like modern chat, with team communication, tasks, calls and docs built in. Its conversational inbox, unified accounts, practical AI and cross-platform reach make it a compelling way to spend less time managing tools and more time actually communicating.

What is TextLantern?

TextLantern is a Discord translator bot. For you. For your server. Read and reply across languages privately, or help your whole server join the conversation.

For you: private translation. On Discord desktop, right-click a message, open Apps, and choose Translate privately. Only you see the result, and the original message stays as it was. Use the translation controls to switch the language. To write a reply in another language, type /t, enter your reply in your own language, pick the target language, and check the result. Then copy it and send it yourself. TextLantern never sends a message for you. The /language command sets your default personal translation language. Personal translation is installed to your own Discord account and does not need Manage Server.

For your server: automatic channel translation. Choose a channel and two main languages, for example English and Japanese. Recognized messages in either language are translated into the other. Decide where translations go: a channel reply beside the original message, or a thread. You can also add extra reader languages, up to eight languages per channel in total. Extra languages can be automatic or on request, and can be delivered privately to the reader who asks. Save and enable translation, then send a test message. Members on phones see the same replies and threads with no extra setup.

Server setup requires Manage Server. The bot needs only specific permissions (View Channels, Read Message History, Send Messages, Send Messages in Threads, Embed Links, Manage Threads, Change Nickname) and not Administrator.

Languages: 92 translation languages, including Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Russian, Arabic and several Arabic dialects, Hindi, Cantonese, French, German, Portuguese and more. The website and app interface are available in 9 languages.

Pricing: eligible Discord accounts get a one-time 300-character free trial. Paid packs start at $8.99 and are one-time purchases, not subscriptions. Purchased characters never expire, and there are no automatic overage charges. Cached, failed, and retried translations cost nothing.

Privacy: private means only you see the result in Discord, although a third-party translation provider still processes the text. TextLantern keeps no permanent message or translation archive and does not use message content to train models. It does not scan message history or auto-translate DMs.

What problem it solves

People in multilingual Discord communities struggle to read and reply across languages without copy-pasting into separate translators.
