Claude vs ChatGPT: Which AI Assistant Should You Actually Use in 2026?

The short answer

This was close. ChatGPT has excellent tooling and a huge community. Claude's large context window meant we could paste entire files and get changes that respected the surrounding code. For refactoring big chunks, Claude won more often.
