Gesture Synth Lab

Gesture Synth Lab is a free browser-based instrument for sketching musical ideas with chords and hand movement. Open the website and play directly using the on-screen chord pads or a computer keyboard. You can choose a musical key, scale and sound, then adjust the tone and volume while you play.

For a more physical way to play, you can optionally enable your camera. Raising one to five fingers triggers different chords, and moving your hand up or down shapes the sound. The camera feature is optional: keyboard and on-screen controls remain available. Camera frames are processed locally in the browser.

When you find an idea you like, record up to 15 seconds and save the performance locally as a WebM file. The core instrument is free to use without installing software or creating an account. It is useful for quick music experiments, chord exploration, classroom demonstrations and playful performances in a web browser.

The interface combines simple input methods with immediate sound feedback. Someone who prefers familiar controls can start with keys or click the chord pads. Someone who wants to explore movement can switch to the optional hand gesture mode.
