Global Data Tracker

Global Data Tracker is a free, browser-based explorer for country-level statistics. It makes it possible to browse population, economic, health, education, energy, environment, food, water, society, and other indicators through an interactive globe and a set of country and statistics pages. Instead of starting with a spreadsheet, visitors can rotate and zoom the Earth, select a country, compare it with others, or browse rankings and historical views.

The project focuses on making published figures easier to explore and easier to trace. Each statistic is paired with its source and observation year, so a recent page visit is not mistaken for a live measurement. Data availability differs by indicator: annual observations are reported at different times, some country-year values are missing, and the “latest” figure can come from different reporting years. When an indicator is updated by its source, the site can reflect the refreshed published value.

Current indicator coverage includes World Bank World Development Indicators. The country profiles and statistics views let readers move from a global pattern to the underlying country figure, inspect its source context, and compare values across time. The site is designed for quick discovery rather than specialist statistical analysis, and visitors should use the linked source agency data and methodology when preparing formal research or citations.

The main audience is anyone who wants to learn from country comparisons: students and educators, researchers and journalists, policy professionals, and curious readers. The app is free to use in a web browser and does not require an account. It provides a visual starting point for questions such as how population, internet access, GDP, health outcomes, and other measures differ between countries and how those indicators have changed over time.

Global Data Tracker is an independent visualization project, not an official World Bank product. It does not generate new survey data or claim that published indicators update in real time. Source year, publication timing, coverage, units, and any estimates matter, so each value needs to be interpreted in its own context. The goal is a clear, approachable way to move from curiosity about a global pattern to a source-linked country statistic.

What problem it solves
