Video2x (https://video-2x.com) is a free, open-source media upscaling toolkit for Windows and Linux. It enlarges and restores videos and images using established AI super-resolution models including waifu2x, Anime4K, Real-ESRGAN and SRMD, with output scales up to 2x or 4x.

How it works: point the tool at a video or image (or a folder), pick an upscaling model and a target scale, and Video2x processes the frames and writes improved output. It exposes both a graphical interface and a command-line workflow, and can drive GPU backends where available for faster processing.

What it is good for: cleaning up low-resolution footage, upscaling anime and animation, and restoring older images for archives or social posts. Because it is open source, you can self-host it, automate batch jobs via scripts, and inspect exactly which model and settings were applied.
